In the end it is all about personal preference. And probably about ‘groupthink’ if youbelong to the list of experts that pontificate about the specific wines that are fashionable now, back then, or in the future. I believe that experts like expensive wines because they are told they are supposed to and because they are the only ones that can discern between wines well enough to associate label/price with taste.
Personally, I think the same is true of fine cheese, truffles, and other delicacies – people only really like them because they are told they are supposed to like them.
