In response to the question: Does College Make You Smarter?

I thought this was a particularly interesting and useful response, identifying several clear causes for why some (many) students come to university without curiosity and under the assumption that they need only put in as little effort as required.

Everything gets blamed here – from the university’s placating, to mass media cultural shift towards quick fame and easy wealth. In the end, of course, it all comes down to the question we need to ask all students: “Why are you here?”
